hello all.

i am formally requesting that we have a new moderator. i personally nominate mad jack kash as i think he would be ideal. he's commited to and involved with this forum, he posts, he's fair and kind and nice.

i believe that druben has overreacted and though he may be a nice guy is not the most appropriate person to moderate this forum.

many of you were annoyed by molly but as abrasive as she was she actually was making points. not one of her posts was contentless name calling. they were caustic but there was humor in them and she was talking about ideas. druben has banned her and i think that that was inappropriate.

regardless of this particular episode i think that mad jack kash would make a better moderator.

i leave the floor to you.

Well, I happen to appreciate the way Druben has moderated this tribe.

There are some that have left, and you can too(speaking to all members here, no offence to Matthew, just sharing info), infact I was contacted with a link to a new tribe, for those who feel that a moderated tribe is less effecive.

it is the Alternative Gay People Alternative Tribe, moderated by Lucian

    tribes.tribe.net/alternati...lternative

There will be no moderation of that tribe, and a person can say whatever they feel, even if they just want to ruin someone elses day because they are sad and insecure.

Mad Jack Kash is an awesome person to have in this tribe, so keep happening Mad Jack!

So, even on that tribe that is supposed to be preserving "free speech" the moderator is lready putting out an appeal that people not bash each other. From Lucian, the moderator:

And finally, I just want to say with all due respect, I would prefer not to focus attention on "bashing" folks we may not agree with. The last thing on earth I want to do,....is prove that Druben was right.

Its so funny to me that all these people that clammer for the freedom to be nasty suddenly don't want in it in their neighborhood...HAHAHA

I come to tribe because it gives me great pleasure. Hostile folk who can't share in that joy but rather choose to disrupt simply don't belong here. So good for you getting rid of the bad apples.

I don't think that's any more censorship than asking a rude guest to leave your home. It's totally justified.

        Thanks, Druben. You're appreciated.

    Mathew,
Please read the description of this tribe. I am committed to making this a safe place for people to chat without the abuse and rude responses. There are other tribes that don't hold to these standards and you are welcome to go elsewhere. I have had threats against me and attepts to break into my personal information and all manner of crazy scary behavior which just confirms to me that there are people dedicated to destroying civility and the basic bedrock necessary for any substantial interaction. Its epidemic on Tribe right now. I am in contact with many moderators who are experiencing a rash of abuse on their tribes which, in effect, hold them hostage. This is not a matter of freedom of speech. "Molly" is clearly not herself, she is a front for someone who doesn't have the courage to face us directly (please read his profile [I'm convinced its a man]). I don't need to defend the right of some anonomous troll to just throw shit around here. BTW you will need to get about 560 votes for your motion to get me to step down.

This thread is but another example of members not quite getting the concept of community; attempting to create division rather than using those energies getting along.

Cheers to you Druben for having the courage and strength to allow this thread to remain.

I'LL be the new moderator! haha

Seriously though, I don't even know what's going on with all this crap. Don't care either eh.
All i do know is that for "alternative gay people", a lot of folks sure are acting like the argumentitive queeny stereotype around these parts.
Kinf of makes no sense considering the title (and supposed point) of this tribe, but whatever floats your boat I guess.
I joined this tribe to get away from childish shit like this and ran smack dab right into something that (no offense) is no different than any gay bar on a saturday night.
    Cheers.

I am glad Molly got kicked to the curb. Someone mentioned this is supposed to be a community. What happenss if you have a nosey disruptive disrespectful neighbor in your community? Do you lay there and take it? No. You ask them nicely, if it doesnt change, then FUCK them.

well......... i just saw this. I dont know what to say..

In all honesty i think Druben can handle this tribe better. But the people of this tribe have to handle this tribe better. It's always messy and sticky and the habitat we live in within this thread is really dissonant. I have respect for Druben and i will decline to run for agp mod because i feel this would hurt him.

But i would moderate if he did decide to step down. But i dont think it necessarily has to happen that way.

mmm.. I understand the frustration.. I haven't read most of the posts people refer to as inappropriate or "bashing".. and I really like the tribe despite the fact that sometimes I question what we mean in real life by "alternative", as distinct from our "idea" of alternative..

I think sometimes I mean alternative as in "alternative to being human".. there isn't one that I know of.. it occurs like a couple of things are happening.. 1) there's an absense of compassion in the way we listen when people say hurtful, inappropriate, blah, blah, blah.. whatever they say.. In reading the posts that reply to them, it really occurs like we have it that few of us here other than the offender has ever had an opinion so strongly held they

    a) defended to the the preverbial death..
    b) said things that were assinine from another point of view defending that position
    or,
    c) lashed out when our ideal got threatened..

It seems like, in our responses, we have it like "that's never been me and I would never do that"..

Well, part of being a human being, sometimes, is that we will do assanine things and then justify it..

    2) There appears to be more than enough blame and not so much the tribe as a whole, being accountable for what happens here..

Part of being a responsible human being in a community, is getting that from time to time, that people will display their humanity and give in to their own drama and say weird, inappropriate, bashing stuff.. and to not "flip out" or be ruled by a reaction or buy into their drama. -- Then having compassion for ourselves, that from time to time - we will buy into their drama and have reactions.. .. and still find a way to hold the person accountable for their behaviour without waiting for someone else to "fix it"..

The moderator's function is to enforce the TOS, and fulfill on the intention of the community. That can't really happen if the community has no interest in fulfulling on it's own intention. What might make a difference is being clear about the intention of the tribe and each and every re-choosing to be accountable for that.. Or maybe it's just me that's unclear..

    It really is all good..

Now.. who's seen a great film..
